February is Black History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the history, contributions, and leadership of Black communities in Canada and in our local community.

With General Motors of Canada’s transition of the Oshawa Assembly Plant back to a two-shift operation as of January 30, Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter has issued the following statement.

Appointments to the following committees provide an opportunity to participate in shaping important community matters. All terms are until November 2026.

Oshawa residents will soon find it easier to book wheelchair-accessible taxicabs thanks to an amendment to the City’s Vehicle-for-Hire By-law 31-2022, with a  newly-established intermunicipal exemption aimed at expanding service options for people with mobility needs.

The City of Oshawa is pleased to announce that construction is complete on the Downtown Urban Square. The new urban space is named ‘Veterans Square’ to pay tribute to Oshawa’s deep connection to Canada’s military history and proximity to the Colonel R.S. McLaughlin Armoury.

In November, the Durham Greener Buildings program held its annual Evening of Recognition, celebrating institutions across Durham Region that excel in energy efficiency and sustainability. This year, Oshawa proudly received three awards.
