Public Art Policy and Master Plan

The City of Oshawa is proud to have a Public Art Master Plan, which guides the ongoing implementation of the City's public art program.

It outlines a vision statement for public art in Oshawa: “Oshawa will be a community where Public Art is innovative, diverse, and accessible to create vibrant public spaces and meaningful connections.”

The purpose of a Public Art Master Plan for the City of Oshawa is:

  • Articulate city-wide vision and principles for public art
  • Articulate and adopt a framework for site selection, identify specific sites/ potential projects and prioritize future public art projects
  • To articulate and propose a funding model for public art

The Public Art Master Plan was approved in 2018 and supports the effective planning of resources and budgeting, clear prioritization of projects and the determination of suitable locations.

Public Art Policy

The Public Art Policy provides a clear and consistent framework related to the administration, selection, and maintenance of public art in Oshawa. It was approved in 2015, and was developed in consultation with community members.

The Public Art Policy reflects the City's commitment and desire to connect and engage with the community, as well as transform the spaces where we live, work, learn and play into vibrant, inviting and meaningful public places.
