The City of Oshawa offers youth leadership training camps for individuals aged 12 to 16 during the summer. These camps include the Counsellor in Training (C.I.T.) and Leader in Training courses, designed to foster leadership skills in participants.
Prepare to be a camp counsellor through our C.I.T. session. The course consists of one week of in-class theory and two weeks of hands on experience at camp locations throughout the City of Oshawa. Youth 14 to 16 years of age have the opportunity to develop skills in:
Participants 12 to 14 years of age can gain various leadership skills in a fun and exciting recreation environment. The course consists of in-class theory and lessons, as well as a chance to use skills learned in a camp atmosphere. Develop skills in:
Register for a youth leadership training camp online at activeOshawa Online or in person at a City recreation facility
Registrants must submit the necessary camp forms before attending their first day at a youth leadership camp. Find the relevant forms on our Camps page.
If we do not have enough registrants for a program, it will be cancelled. If a youth leadership training camp is cancelled, you will be contacted to choose a different program (if space is available) or receive a full refund.
If your preferred camp is full, join the waitlist at no additional charge. If a spot opens up, our team will contact individuals on the waitlist based on the sign up order.
To withdraw from a youth leadership training camp, submit a Course Withdrawal and Refund Request Form.
