Building Permit Drawings
Structural drawings or plans for your property
You can submit a request for permit drawings associated with a property you own. Permit drawings or plans located within our files will be sent digitally to the owner or approved agent. Hard copies are not available.
Are you the owner?
Only the owner of the property or their authorized agent may request drawings. Authorized agents will be required to submit a completed authorization letter which can be uploaded when submitting the request.
If you purchased the property within the last 3 months, you will be required to provide a copy of the registered Transfers. Please note: Sales and Purchase Agreements will not be accepted.
If you are not the property owner or authorized agent, you will need to complete a Freedom of Information request.
Our files and record retention
As per Records Retention By-law 32-2021, the file retention period for permit and inspection records is 15 years, however it is not guaranteed that records are available.
Depending on the permit history of a property, it is possible that we may have structural drawings/plans available beyond the retention period.
In the event that we do not have drawings/plans on file and you require them for renovation work, a qualified person such as an architect, or B.C.I.N. designer, may be able to advise you on how to proceed.
Fee
There is a non refundable fee of $100.
Timeline for drawing requests
Drawing requests submitted are processed within 4-6 weeks.
