Admissions for recreation programs and activities

The Recreation Services Branch offers many programs, services, and activities to enjoy. Below you will find admission fees for our programs and services. All fees listed include applicable tax.

Leisure swimming, leisure skating, leisure rooms, indoor tracks, and drop-in sports admission fees

*Youth under the age of 18 must pass the Weight Training-Teen course to access a fitness centre. This is a free course offered by the City of Oshawa. Register now at Register.Oshawa.ca.

If space permits, you may be able to drop into art, dance, general, specialty, and aqua fitness programs. See the below drop-in admission fees.

Additional admission details

Please note the following:

  • All fees listed include applicable tax
  • A daily visit is a visit to a recreation facility for one day and may include multiple admissions. An additional daily visit fee is applied if you leave the facility and return. The admission you attend with the highest fee is charged at the time of your visit
  • Preschoolers, three years of age and younger, have free admission
  • Children/Youth, four to 17 years of age, and adults, 18 years and older, pay regular admission fees
  • Full-time students must show valid student identification
  • A family is defined as two adults and their children, 17 years of age and younger, living at the same address
  • Oshawa residents 55 years of age and over must show proof of age and residency to receive reduced membership and admission fees. Non-residents 55 years of age and over pay adult membership and admission fees

Our three Fitness Membership and Membership Add-on options allow you to customize your membership to meet your fitness goals. To get started with your Fitness Membership, visit one of our recreation facilities.

Fitness Membership options include:

Level 1: Swim, Skate and Walk Membership

This membership includes the following benefits at no extra charge:

  • Access to all leisure swims
  • Access to all leisure skates - does not include Shinny Hockey
  • Access to indoor tracks at the Delpark Homes Centre and Civic Dome located at the Civic Recreation Complex
  • Access to drop-in sports programs at various arenas and gymnasiums
    • Does not include access to programs offered at the Civic Recreation Complex Fieldhouse on evenings, after 5 p.m., or weekends
  • Access to the Rec Room at the Civic Recreation Complex and the Youth Room at the South Oshawa Community Centre

Level 2: Fitness Centre Membership

  • Access to three fitness centres located at the Civic Recreation Complex, Delpark Homes Centre, and South Oshawa Community Centre

Youth Room Membership

The Youth Room Membership is $6.50 per year.

The Youth Room Membership provides you unlimited access to the Youth Room at the South Oshawa Community Centre. Visit our leisure rooms webpage for more information.

Membership add-ons

You can customize your Fitness Membership for greater services with a Group Fitness Membership Add-on or Racquet Sports Add-on.

Group Fitness Membership Add-on

The Group Fitness Add-on is $42.94 per program session.

The Group Fitness Membership Add-on includes:

  • Free registration to all regular Group Fitness classes, daytime shallow water, deep water and stretch Aquafit classes
  • 50% discount on daytime and evening Specialty Fitness Classes, daytime Specialty Aqua Zumba Aquafit classes, evening Shallow Water and Deep Water Aquafit classes

Please note:

  • Certain programs are excluded, contact a recreation facility for more information
  • Class sizes are limited and registration is not guaranteed
  • The Group Fitness Membership Add-on is available for purchase before the start of the fall, winter, spring, and summer program sessions.

Racquet Sports Add-on

This membership includes seven-day advance booking privileges and reduced court fees for our indoor tennis and squash courts located at the Civic Recreation Complex. Visit our Court Rentals webpage for more information.

Tennis court rental fees:

  • Member fee: applies if all players on the court have an active Racquet Sports Add-on or Level 2: All Inclusive Membership
  • Non-member fee: applies if one more players on the court does not have a Racquet Sports Add-on or Level 2: All Inclusive Membership

Squash court rental fees:

  • Member fee: applies if all players on the court have an active Racquet Sports Add-on or Level 2: All Inclusive Membership
  • Non-member fee: applies if one more players on the court does not have a Racquet Sports Add-on or Level 2: All Inclusive Membership

Members will be issued a shoe tag upon the purchase of a Racquet Sports Membership. The shoe tag must be worn and visible at all times while on the court.

Additional membership details

Monthly pre-authorized payments

  • Available for six month and 12 month memberships
  • Credit cards (American Express, MasterCard, Visa) and pre-authorized debit (P.A.D.) are accepted
  • Payments processed on the first business day of the month
  • Payment for the first month is prorated based on the start date and due at the time of purchase. Payment for the last month is prorated based on the end date
  • Visit a recreation facility in person by the last business day of the month to provide changes for payment information. The change will be effective for the following month's payment
  • The monthly pre-tax price of the membership remains the same for the duration of the contract
  • All declined credit cards and pre-authorized debit (P.A.D.) payments returned by the bank are subject to a $20 service charge from the City of Oshawa.

Renewals

  • Memberships expire at the end of the term purchased and do not automatically renew
  • Visit a recreation facility in-person to purchase a new membership term
  • Payment details must be provided for the renewed term for memberships on pre-authorized payments

Holds, cancellations, and refunds

  • Memberships cannot be placed on hold and must be cancelled
  • Cancellations are completed in person at a recreation facility
  • An administrative fee of $16 applies to cancelling a membership, Group Fitness Add-on or Racquet Sport Add-on. This fee will be waived when cancelling due to medical reasons if a valid doctor's note is provided
  • Memberships can be cancelled at any time
  • Memberships paid in full at the time of purchase are cancelled effective the date of request and will be refunded for unused time
  • Memberships on monthly pre-authorized payments are cancelled effective the last day of the current month. Partial refunds are not issued when requesting cancellation partway through the month
