Temporary lane closures: Harmony Creek Restoration

Date: March 25th, 2024 to March 30th, 2024
Details: The scope of work will be for the clearing and grubbing of adjacent trees and vegetation required for the restoration of Harmony Creek, south of Rossland Road East. The Contractor will be providing compensation for the proposed tree removals at a ratio of 3:1, resulting in three trees planted per individual tree removed.

The City of Oshawa is pleased to report that building permit activity in 2022 exceeded any year in Oshawa’s recorded history. Oshawa’s previous building permit record was set in 2017 at $614 million. In 2022, the City shattered that record with more than $900 million in building permit values!

The City of Oshawa has named a future Oshawa park to recognize and celebrate the reopening of the General Motors Oshawa Assembly plant and the high-quality new Silverado trucks being built at the plant.
At a recent Council Meeting, City Council approved the naming of “Silverado Park” that will be a feature in the Treasure Hill development located north of Shankel Road and west of Townline Road North.

City Council has approved the naming of a future Oshawa park that will be located on a portion of the former Donevan High School site as “Dale Hawerchuk Park.”
The motion was introduced by Regional and City Councillor Tito-Dante Marimpietri during the May 25, 2020 Council Meeting, and was unanimously approved by Council.

Automated speed enforcement cameras turn on in 90 days

Beginning this week, the Region of Durham will be installing automated speed enforcement (ASE) signage on Durham roadways, including in eight Oshawa locations, advising drivers that speed cameras will begin operation in 90 days.
Drivers will notice the automated speed enforcement “coming soon” signs in some school zones and designated Community Safety Zones on Regional roads, including the following eight Oshawa locations:
