Office of the Chief Administrative Officer
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer is the link between Council and staff. It comprises three branches:
Corporate Communications
Corporate Communications handles strategic communications that promote a positive image of the city. Other responsibilities include:
- community engagement opportunities
- Branding (including City of Oshawa logo use), media relations and advertising
- web-based communications including websites and social media
- emergency communications
Corporate Strategic Initiatives
Corporate Strategic Initiatives support the leadership team in developing and aligning corporate priorities. The office is a resource for the development of:
- Business planning
- Continuous Improvement Framework
- Corporate policies
- Intergovernmental relations
- Project management
- The Oshawa Strategic Plan
Legislative Services
Legislative Services delivers various statutory and legislative services ensuring compliance with the Municipal Act, the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Municipal Elections Act, Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, the Marriage Act and various other acts. Responsibilities include:
- providing support services to Council and its Standing and Advisory Committees, including preparation of agendas, scheduling delegations and meeting management
- managing the City's Records and Information Management Program including corporate agreements, City By-laws and access and privacy
- planning and conducting the Municipal and School Board elections
- managing the City's Customer Service Centre, Service Oshawa which provides a link between customers and departments in person and online including handling and directing complaints about City programs, facilities, services and staff; providing Commissioner of Oaths services, Marriage Licences and Civil Ceremonies.
