Canada Post Strike
Updated 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 27: Updates have been made to the process for External Vendors to collect cheques.
Updated 9:45 a.m., Friday, May 23: The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (C.U.P.W.) has begun legal strike action by launching a nationwide overtime ban for Urban, Rural and Suburban mail carriers. While Canada Post is continuing to operate, customers may experience delays. This strike action would impact mail delivery to and from the City.
Please note that community members are still responsible for submitting any time sensitive payments and applications on time during the strike. Items received late are subject to penalty or interest.

Finance Services
Property Tax Bills
Oshawa property owners are advised that 2025 Final Property Tax Bills were issued last week.
Note: If property owners have not received their Final Property Tax Bill by May 31, 2025, they are encouraged to reach out to Taxation Services at [email protected]. Property owners enrolled in the City’s Pre-Authorized Tax Payment (P.T.P.) Plan should contact Service Oshawa to learn their July 2025 withdrawal amounts.
Oshawa residents and property owners are encouraged to register to receive their next Interim and Final tax bills through E-Billing.

External Vendors
External vendors awaiting payment from the City should note that cheques are still being mailed, however, delivery delays are expected due to ongoing Canada Post overtime bans.
If preferred, vendors may arrange to pick up their cheques in person at Service Oshawa, located at City Hall, 50 Centre Street South. To make arrangements for pick-up, please email [email protected] or call 905-436-3311 ext. 2016.
Note: Only the individual named on the cheque may pick it up and government-issued photo identification is required for the cheque to be released.
Legislative Services
Residents ordering garbage tags online during this period will need to collect their tags in person at Service Oshawa (located in City Hall, 50 Centre St. S.).
Municipal Law Enforcement and Licensing Services
Municipal Law Enforcement and Licensing Services has developed a contingency plan to continue to communicate with its customers as well as uphold its legal responsibilities, including but not limited to issuing hardcopy notices on sites, personal hand delivery and email.
Recreation Services
Recreation Services customers are encouraged to verify their email addresses in their activeOshawa account. Staff will correspond with clients via email.
