Durham Region Notice: Statement from Dr. Robert Kyle, Medical Officer of Health on Hillsdale Terraces

“Today, Durham Region Health Department declared the COVID-19 outbreak over at Hillsdale Terraces long-term care facility in Oshawa.
Hillsdale Terraces was one of the first homes in Ontario to declare a COVID-19 outbreak, on March 19. This outbreak unfortunately resulted in the death of 14 residents. Another 28 residents tested positive and have subsequently recovered. In addition, 13 employees tested positive with eight staff fully recovered and five more at home recovering.

On this day in 1945, Victory in Europe (V-E) Day was celebrated by crowds across Canada, Europe and many Allied Nations around the world.
May 8, 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of V-E Day and the end of the Second World War. Over one million Canadians served during the war, including many from Oshawa and Durham Region. They made many sacrifices in the name of peace, human rights, freedom and democracy to ensure a better world for the future.

Oshawa burn ban lifted

Community members are advised that the fire ban for burn permits issued on March 21, 2020 was lifted today by Oshawa Fire Services.
Oshawa Fire Services reminds residents that only those individuals with an approved fire permit respecting the Open Air Burning By-law are allowed to burn. Those not complying with the by-law may be subjected to fees as identified by By-law #73-2012. An open air burn permit may be obtained for properties north of Conlin Road and meeting the requirements of By-law #73-2012....

As Durham Region businesses prepare to reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a need for personal protective equipment (PPE), as required by provincial guidelines.
