Camp Samac to receive Ontario Heritage Act designation

Camp Samac has been recognized by City Council as a property of cultural heritage value or interest under the Ontario Heritage Act. At the April 26 Council meeting, Council unanimously approved the designation of Camp Samac at 1711 Simcoe Street North.

Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc. conducting maintenance work in Ward 2

Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc. (TNPI) will be conducting work as part of its preventative maintenance program. Residents, visitors, and businesses in the Oshawa areas of Thornton Road North and Taunton Road West can expect to see activity related to the work beginning April 19, 2021.
Landowners adjacent to the work location, may be contacted by TNPI’s land agents Vertex with further information on what type of activities will be occurring.

City to provide financial support for Oshawa Generals Memorial Cup bid

The City of Oshawa continues to support the Oshawa Generals in its 2021 Memorial Cup bid. Oshawa City Council has approved $200,000 for in-kind services, a $50,000 cash contribution and $110,000 in Tribute Communities Centre capital upgrades should the Oshawa Generals secure the 2021 Memorial Cup tournament.

City of Oshawa and Trent University to offer financial support to Oshawa students in need

The City of Oshawa and Trent University have created a dedicated endowment fund to provide support to Oshawa students attending the University’s Durham GTA campus.
Beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year, the City of Oshawa Student Bursaries Endowment Fund will support students who reside in Oshawa, are enrolled at Trent University Durham GTA and have demonstrated socio-economic need.

Automated speed enforcement cameras turn on in 90 days

Beginning this week, the Region of Durham will be installing automated speed enforcement (ASE) signage on Durham roadways, including in eight Oshawa locations, advising drivers that speed cameras will begin operation in 90 days.
Drivers will notice the automated speed enforcement “coming soon” signs in some school zones and designated Community Safety Zones on Regional roads, including the following eight Oshawa locations:
