Fireworks safety and neighbourly reminders for Canada Day

As the City of Oshawa prepares for Canada Day celebrations, Oshawa Fire Services reminds community members to keep fire safety and their neighbours in mind when lighting fireworks.
Under the City’s Fireworks By-law, community members can discharge Consumer (Family) Fireworks on their private property without a permit between dusk and 11 p.m. on:
- Victoria Day;
- Canada Day; and,
- the celebration known as Diwali Day.

Ministry of Transportation to replace underpass structures along Highway 401

The Ministry of Transportation (M.T.O.) has retained Brennan Paving and Construction Ltd. (B.P.C.L.) to replace the Simcoe St. S. and Albert St. underpass structures along Highway 401 in Oshawa.
Construction has begun and will be phased over five stages during the 2023/2024 construction seasons. The anticipated completion date of all construction works is November 2024.

In response to a number of criminal incidents in our city, the City of Oshawa is urging the community to help keep Oshawa clean, green and beautiful.
Recent costly acts of vandalism in our community include:
- damage upwards of $50,000 to the new Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park and Garden of Human Rights;
- removal of plantings from City gardens; and,

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 (the Act) requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to disclose annually the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in a calendar year.
