2025 Budget delivered November 1

The 2025 City Budget was delivered to Council this morning and is now available for public review on the Budget Documents webpage.
The City piloted a multi-year budget this year, resulting in the preparation of a 2025 Operating and Capital budget, as well as a 2026 Operating Forecast and Nine-year Capital Forecast. A multi-year budget provides the City with better alignment of long-term goals, objectives, and funding plans.

Peony Festival recognized as finalist for Tourism Event of the Year

Oshawa’s Peony Festival was selected as a finalist for the 2024 Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence in the Tourism Event of the Year category.
This recognition, a first for Oshawa, highlights the Festival’s outstanding contributions to Ontario’s tourism industry. Other finalists included the Winter Festival of Lights by Niagara Falls Tourism, Blumination by Blue Mountain Village Association, the World Cup of Hockey and this year’s winner, Tall Pines Music and Arts Festival.

Debwewin Miikan street sign unveiled in Oshawa

The street sign for Debwewin Miikan (Duh-Bway-Win Mee-Can) was unveiled this afternoon in a traditional Indigenous renaming ceremony in downtown Oshawa. The ceremony was overseen by local Elders and supported by Bawaajigewin Aboriginal Community Circle. Proudly featuring the Thunderbird logo of the Anishinabek Nation, the street sign and its name promote Indigenous languages and their revitalization while demonstrating the City’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

November 1 to 7 is Carbon Monoxide (CO) Awareness Week in Ontario and Oshawa Fire Services (OFS) is reminding residents to install new batteries in all smoke and CO alarms when setting the clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 3 at 2:00 a.m.
