The City of Oshawa tree canopy continues to be impacted by the invasive insect Emerald Ash Borer (E.A.B.). As a result, community members may see forestry contractors in their neighbourhood removing ash trees that are impacted by the insect and potentially creating a risk to the public and/or the surrounding property.

A recent increase in sightings of coyotes has been reported in various areas of Oshawa. The safety of our community is our top priority, and the City of Oshawa is monitoring the situation closely. In response to the sightings, a number of measures have been put into action.

Coyote sightings and safety in Oshawa

Community members are being asked to be cautious after a child was bitten by a coyote at Northway Court Park on Thursday, July 1, 2021. The child sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital and treated for the bite.
