Be a BMX Bike Park Volunteer Ambassador!
The City of Oshawa’s first BMX Bike Park is ready for the community and we are stoked!
The City is looking for 20 volunteers who are interested in donating their time and muscles to help in the maintenance of the park.
Why volunteer?
Maintenance is essential in order to keep riders safe. Volunteering is a great way to help keep the track in good repair while also developing your skills. Students can also earn volunteer hours.
Volunteers will learn the skills needed for basic track maintenance and put their training into action!
Who can help?
Volunteers must:
- be at least 14 years of age unless accompanied by a parent or guardian;
- attend a mandatory training clinic; and,
- sign and submit a waiver before participating in a mandatory training clinic and Scheduled Workday Events.
The mandatory training clinic takes place Tuesday, August 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the BMX Bike Park located on the northeast side of Thornton Road, north of Rossland Road.
Scheduled Workday Events will take place at the Bike Park once a month, for a duration of two hours. City staff will be on hand for each of the scheduled Workday Events to assist and provide guidance. Tools and equipment (wheelbarrows, shovels, brooms, watering cans etc.) will be supplied by the City.
How do you get started?
Volunteers must register in advance of the mandatory training clinic by visiting https://forms.oshawa.ca/Community-Services/Operations-Services/Community-Volunteer-Participation-Waiver and completing the Waiver by selecting BMX Volunteer Stewardship Program.
Registration is limited to 20 volunteers, however additional space may open up as needed. The first 20 volunteers registered will be contacted by the City to confirm their registration.
