Beach season begins: Lifejackets, lifeguards and ways to stay cool
Lakeview Park Beach is now open for the season with lifeguards on duty from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., weather and conditions permitting, until September 1.
The free Lifejacket Loaner Program sponsored by Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA Ports) is back. Lifejackets in various sizes are available at Lakeview Park Beach during and outside lifeguard hours. Look for the Lifejacket Loaner Station sign near the beach hut and return lifejackets after each use. Learn more at oshawa.ca/Lifejacket.
Before heading to the beach, check for updates on closures at durham.ca/Beaches and remember these water safety tips:
- Swim only in designated areas
- Always swim while under supervision
- Swim with a buddy
- Never rely on a lifejacket alone – education and supervision matter
Most drownings are preventable in a Water Smart community. Learn more at lifesavingsociety.com
