Construction Schedule
The Region’s contractor, Hard-Co Construction Ltd., will mobilize the week of March 18, 2024. Work is expected to be completed by fall 2024. Unfavorable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Lane Restrictions and Road Closures
Simcoe Street South, from Olive Avenue to north of Metcalfe Street will be reduced to one lane in the northbound direction. Access to side streets located within the construction zone staging will be limited, at times, during construction. A signed detour route will be in place for the duration of the project. The intersections of John Street and Gibb/Elm Street will experience intermittent road closures to through traffic in both eastbound and westbound directions. Additional advanced public notices will be issued confirming future closure dates and detour routes. Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
