City of Oshawa Sets New Building Record in June
The City of Oshawa continues a strong year for building activity in 2020, with June hitting a new record for industrial construction value.
In June 2020, the City of Oshawa Issued $82,514,800 in total construction value, consisting of:
- $ 62,930,400 in Industrial construction value,
- $ 9,951,500 in Residential,
- $ 9,604,500 in Commercial,
- $ 28,400 in Governmental/Institutional.
- Issued 96 building permits,
- Issued 26 Residential units (10 semi-detached, 9 accessory dwellings, 7 singles),
- Added 52,380 m2 of Industrial floor space.
- Added 6,363 m2 of Commercial floor space.
Record for June 2020:
- Highest June for Industrial construction value on record (surpassing 1986’s June record of $16.47 million).
Milestone:
- Total Construction Value ($335,269,500) has already surpassed last year with six months to go.
Major projects issued in June 2020:
- CSPAC Industrial Thornton & Wentworth – new industrial (883 Thornton Rd. S.) total value of $49,100,400.
- Oshawa South Self Storage Limited Partnership – new industrial self-storage building (600 Fox St.) total value of $13,800,000.
- 2285136 Ontario Ltd. – new commercial building (2610 Simcoe St. N.) total value of $4,700,000.
- RioCan Management Inc. – new commercial building (2650 Simcoe St. N.) total value of $4,025,600.
Oshawa has kept yearly building permit values since 1963 and monthly statistics since 1965.
