Construction on Mary St. for watermain replacement
The Regional Municipality of Durham will begin construction for the replacement of the watermain, sanitary sewer and services on Mary St. from Rossland Rd. East to 150 metres north of Robert St. Works will include restoration of all disturbed areas and full asphalt removal and replacement.
Construction schedule
The Region’s contractor, Trisan Construction Ltd., will begin mobilizing the week of April 29, 2024 and anticipates completing the work by September 2025.
Road closure and parking
Mary Street will be closed for the duration of construction. Access for local traffic and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Further advanced Public Notices will be provided to detail dates and closure limits.
Local residents should expect traffic delays and are asked to exercise additional caution for the safety of the construction workers. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible. Notification will be given to residents if vehicles need to be moved out of the driveway.
If you are unable to access your driveway due to this work, a permit is required to park on the street. To obtain an Occasional Use Parking Permit, go to Oshawa.ca/parkingpermit or contact Service Oshawa at 905-436-3311 and notify them quoting contract number D2023-54. This electronic parking permit will exempt your vehicle from the three hour on-street parking restriction only; all other parking restrictions still apply.
Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Temporary water service interruptions
During the course of this work, residents will experience intermittent water supply interruptions. The contractor will notify impacted properties 48 hours in advance of any planned service interruptions to give the residents time to prepare. It is recommended that residents keep a supply of water in containers for drinking, cooking and general purposes during the service interruptions.
Further information and future updates will be posted on Durham.ca/MaryStreet.
