Help build a more inclusive Oshawa
The City of Oshawa is recruiting community representatives to join its Community Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (C.D.E.I.C.).
Oshawa residents with the following are encouraged to submit an application to become a C.D.E.I.C. member:
- lived or living experience as a member of a group that has experienced discrimination or barriers to inclusion;
- knowledge of anti-racism/anti-oppressive practice and/or diversity, equity and inclusion matters; and/or,
- a passion for ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities to participate and engage in their communities.
Successful applicants will use their skills, knowledge and lived experience to bring forward the voices of diverse community groups and organizations in Oshawa, advise on the elimination of barriers within City programs, services and policies for diverse populations, and consult on the development of new initiatives and programs.
What’s involved? Committee members can expect:
- a two-year term with eight to ten Committee meetings per year;
- 30 minutes of material review in advance of each meeting;
- to attend ad-hoc sub-committee meetings; and,
- to represent the C.D.E.I.C. at community events.
