Ministry of Transportation: Highway 401 closure from Simcoe St. to Drew St. May 11 and 12
The Ministry of Transportation (M.T.O.) is replacing the Simcoe St. S. and Albert St. overpass structures along Highway 401 in Oshawa.
As part of the construction operations, a full closure of Highway 401 in both directions from Simcoe St. to Drew St. to perform bridge demolition on the existing Simcoe St. Underpass at Highway 401.
When: Saturday, May 11 at 11 p.m. until Sunday, May 12 at 7 a.m. with some lane closures starting Saturday, May 11 at 9 p.m. to be fully reopened by Sunday, May 12 at 9 a.m.

During this period, detour routes will be implemented to divert the vehicle traffic around the closed portion of the highway by utilizing the existing Arterial roads. These detour routes are summarized as follows:
- Eastbound Traffic on Highway 401: All lanes of traffic will exit at the Simcoe St. off-ramp (East/West) and follow Bloor St. eastbound until reaching the next available Highway 401 on-ramp located west of Fourth Ave.
- Westbound Traffic on Highway 401: All lanes of traffic will exit at the Drew St. off-ramp, proceed north to the intersection of First Ave. and Drew St., and then follow First Ave. westbound to Simcoe St. From there, traffic will travel southbound towards the Simcoe St. on-ramp to access Highway 401 westbound.
Additionally, the following arterial roads will be closed with permitted access to the local traffic and immediate residents. These closures are as follows:
- Simcoe St. S.: Closed from 150m north of Lviv Blvd. to Bloor St. East/West.
- Albert St.: Closed from Third Ave. to Bloor St. East/West.
- Front St.: Closed from Third Ave to Lviv Blvd.
- Lviv Blvd.: Closed from Simcoe St. to Front St.
Appropriate signage will be installed before the closure date to notify the travelling public of the closure date and times. All detour routes will be clearly outlined by the appropriate detour signage to guide traffic.
