Thinking of running in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election?
Plan to attend the upcoming Election Information Session
The 2022 Municipal and School Board Election is Monday, October 24 and candidate registration for municipal council or school board positions opens Monday, May 2.
Those considering running for local office, acting as a campaign manager or registering a third party advertising campaign this October are encouraged to attend the upcoming 2022 Municipal Election Information Session to ensure they are an informed election participant.
The Session will run from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13 in Meeting Room LL-C (on the lower level) at the Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters, located at 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby. Attendees should use the south entrance doors.
The Session will include a presentation by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, which will cover:
- Roles and responsibilities of elected officials, staff and third party advertisers
- Eligibility rules
- Nomination process
- Campaign finances
- Compliance audit
- Voters’ list and voting proxy
- Scrutineers
- Recounts
- Resources
