Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter has issued a statement following the tragic residential fire at 70 McGrigor Street earlier this morning:
“We are profoundly saddened by this heartbreaking tragedy. On behalf of City Council and the City of Oshawa, I extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the family during this incredibly difficult time.

Residential Fire in Downtown Oshawa

At 8:08 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, Oshawa Fire Services dispatchers received multiple calls for a house fire at 70 McGrigor Street in Oshawa.
Oshawa Fire Services arrived on scene within minutes. Fire crews encountered heavy fire and smoke conditions. Four victims have been transported to the hospital and the extent of their injuries has not been confirmed at this time.
Oshawa Fire Services continues to remain on scene to fight this active fire.

Donevan Recreation Complex Renovation Disruption

From Monday, March 17 to Friday, March 28, the Donevan Recreation Complex will undergo renovations to install new entrance doors designed to improve accessibility for all patrons. During this period, the main entrance will be closed, and patrons will need to use the alternative entrance. Signage will be posted at the facility to direct patrons to the temporary entrance.
