City of Oshawa welcomes Ontario Parasport Games this weekend

The City of Oshawa welcomes hundreds of visitors this weekend as the Durham Region 2023 Ontario Parasport Games bring more than 500 participants, including athletes, organizers and volunteers, to compete in over ten sports. Three of the eight competition venues are located right here in Oshawa.
Community members are invited to cheer on:

Rose Valley Community Park

The City of Oshawa is seeking input from the community on the design of a destination playground for Rose Valley Community Park. Located at 1095 Thornton Rd. N., this Park is proposed to include a playground, pickleball courts, formal gardens passive walking trails and enhancements to the B.M.X. Park.
Community members can help shape the design of the Park by providing feedback on preferred playground equipment and accessibility by:

Community Awards nominations now being accepted

The City of Oshawa is calling for nominations of individuals, collectives and organizations that have made a positive contribution in the community.
The City is now accepting nominations for the following community awards:
- Community Legend Award;
- Oshawa Culture Counts Awards; and,
- E.P. Taylor Windfields Farm Champion Award.
Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023. Oshawa City Council will present recipients with their awards at a Council meeting in spring 2023.

City of Oshawa records strongest year of building activity with over $900 million in permit values

The City of Oshawa is pleased to report that building permit activity in 2022 exceeded any year in Oshawa’s recorded history. Oshawa’s previous building permit record was set in 2017 at $614 million. In 2022, the City shattered that record with more than $900 million in building permit values!
In total Oshawa set 25 new building records in 2022. Highlights include:
